Following the government inquiry into the Grenfell disaster, 54 developers have signed a developer-led remediation contract in official recognition of their responsibilities.
This includes several actions such as accelerating determinations of which buildings require remedial works, with the use of independent and competent assessors to help with this.

Developers have also committed to beginning remedial work on at least 80% of their buildings that require this by the end of July 2026, and to complete this fully within the following 12 months.
This is an acceleration from previous deadlines of 2029 and 2031 for cladding removal, based on building height.
Developers will be responsible for builders they are under contract on, save for cases “genuinely outside their control.”
A remediation action group, featuring government representatives and developers, will also be established to help overcome barriers.
Throughout this plan the government has committed to providing guidance and oversight of this work.
